Hays, the UK’s biggest recruiter by market capitalisation, said it expected profits to beat market expectations in 2017, even as it suffered a 5 per cent drop in fee growth in the UK amid “tough market conditions in the public sector”.Overall, the group reported record net fee growth at 7 per cent in like-for-like terms in the three months to June 30 – the final quarter of its financial year. Growth in both its Asia Pacific and continental Europe and Rest of World regions was up 11 per cent respectively when compared with the same quarter last year.But in the UK, which accounts for around a quarter of the business, net fee growth fell by 5 per cent when stripping out the effects of currency
